Christingle Making


What you will need:

  • 1 orange

  • A length of red ribbon or red electrical tape

  • 4 cocktail sticks

  • Some raisins or cherries

  • Sweets

  • Small piece of foil

  • A candle

How to make your Christingle:

1. Begin by washing your hands.

2. Get your orange and start by making a hole in the top with a knife, make sure you get an adult to help you!
(The orange represents the world)

3. Add the red ribbon or tape around centre of the the orange.
(The red ribbon/tape represents God’s love for the world, through Jesus’ blood)

4. Add your sweets and/or fruit to each cocktail stick.
(The sweets and fruit represent the fruits of the earth and God’s provision)

5. Insert the cocktail sticks into the top of the orange.
(The 4 cocktail sticks represent the 4 corners of the earth/the 4 seasons)

6. We will provide you with a Glow Stick for use during our Christingle Service - traditionally Christingles are made by wrapping a small piece of foil around the base of your candle.

7. Push the candle into the pre-cut hole in the top of the orange. You can use a birthday candle if you don’t have a thick one.
(The candle represents Jesus, the light of the world)

8. Light your candle! (With the help of an adult).
