The Grace of Waiting

Fiona and I are reading Margaret Whipp’s book ‘The Grace of Waiting’ during this Lent. Her chosen subject is a tough call in our busy lives, but I have found her book wonderfully restorative, as she invites us to slow down and enjoy the moment of what ever God is up to. One lovely example is of a minister who chooses the longest queue in the supermarket rather than seek out the quickest checkout. I tried it this past week and would commend it to you; however busy you are. Such non action allows you to reflect and pray or chat to someone mad enough to join your queue too. Waiting with patience is a gift that can be developed and exercised, when you can allow God to have a look into all you think and say and do.

Margaret Whipp concludes by reminding us that God is waiting too; but not for the check out. There are no prizes for guessing who.
