Holiday Club 2019: A volunteers perspective

“I played a small part on the Thursday of the Holiday Club and want to feed back to the congregation what a great job was done by Diana and her team.

There were about 100 kids of primary school age (about 50% of whom were from our congregation) very happily engaged for three days in games, thoughtful fun exercises and worship sessions. The theme was space exploration - ‘Out of this World’.

The children were assigned to a particular team on arrival and I was so impressed by the amount of care and preparation that had obviously taken place (including making sure that there was one and only one biscuit put out for each child with their choice of soft drink at break time – and of course the right drink for each adult in each team!).

The children were engaged, relaxed, happy and very well behaved.

After the children had been collected, there was a wash up session. There were approximately 50 team members present made up from members of the staff team, volunteers and young people. I felt very privileged to be part of this outstanding event. I don’t know what will happen next year whilst we are out of our building but I hope that I will be able to take part!
