St John's Light Trail 2020
Every year St John’s holds a light party in October bringing light and joy to many families. This year, with no building and new regulations to restrict the spread of the coronavirus, we couldn’t do it the same way. But we decided that, perhaps even more so this year, our community needed to know that there is light in the darkness.
The Parish Mission Support Team suggested that churches could make a ‘Light Trail’ - a small walk for families, armed with the words they were looking for, to walk around and find the lights. With each word is a corresponding Bible verse and question to prompt conversations about the light that Jesus brings.
So we asked you, our church family, to join us to create light in the darkness - and you didn’t disappoint!
We got some great feedback from families too:
We just want to say thank you so much for organising the light trail. It was really fun doing our display and we loved following the trail too! We had an evening walk around the local houses and stopped and put a sticker on and had a sweet every time we saw a display. It was so encouraging to see so many positive messages about God’s goodness and His light amidst lots of darkness. We saw two St John’s families on our trail too which was fab!
