Resurrection Church Beirut Update - Part 2
Education
Resurrection Church aims to support the families of its congregation in a holistic way, especially during through this economic crisis. As part of this support and knowing how important a good quality education and a safe environment for children, teens, and young adults is, we have been investing these past few years in supporting children through 2 programs: the Learning Support Program & School Scholarships
Situation Update
During the last few years, the education sector in the country as a whole has deteriorated significantly because of Covid-19 and the economic crisis that the country is going through. For Lebanese families, education has always been accessible, but they are now unable to afford education for their children. As for the marginalized and refugee communities in Lebanon, education has always been a struggle and access is now becoming increasingly difficult.
Education Ministry
Resurrection church has always seen the great significance of education. It has invested in helping many children through our Learning Support Program for both Lebanese and refugee children. Additionally, in 2021, and after the escalating crises in Lebanon, Resurrection Church has supported 96 students from the church and the community who were not able to continue their education because of the financial burden, by providing school scholarships for the whole academic year.
Learning Support Program (LSP)
Currently, we have 33 vulnerable children aged 5 – 11, enrolled in a non-formal education program that runs 5 days a week, 5 hours a day at Resurrection Church's main campus in Baabda. These children have no opportunity to access formal education at any school. LSP offers them the chance to read and write Arabic and English, learn Math, Science, & Art, as well as having Bible lessons and life skills sessions.
School Scholarships
Resurrection Church currently provides school scholarships for students within its congregation, helping them continue their education despite the devastating financial situation they are living in. This year, we aim to help 150 students with both school scholarships ensuring they continue their education.
Online and Social Media Ministry
Resurrection Church aims to make disciples not only in Lebanon, but also within the whole Arab speaking world. One way to do that is through our online and social media ministry. Through this ministry, we are creating engaging and creative content to reach and impact people from various backgrounds, connecting and interacting with them online, journeying alongside them in their faith, and helping them become disciples of Christ! As we are gaining more followers every day through our 6 different online platforms, we see the great need to engage these followers through online discipleship material. We aim to help them believe in Christ and grow in their relationship with Him, be filled with the Holy Spirit, crown Jesus as Lord over their time, relationships, and resources, belong to the family of Christ and know what that means, witness about Christ through their words, deeds, and character, and make disciples for Christ.
Situation
In 2016 and before the COVID-19 crisis, we launched our online ministry, actively reaching and engaging with people online. Recently, with the additional COVID-19 crisis and fuel crisis in Lebanon, our online ministry has peaked due to government restrictions and people not being able to commute, and is still active until today. In addition to our growing social media followers and responders, we have a growing online congregation who are regularly attending our Sunday service through Facebook, Zoom, Sat7 channels, as well as those who are listening to our programs and sermons on Belight FM.
