Harborne Carnival 2023

First of all, a huge thank you to all members of St John’s who stepped up and helped take church outside for the Harborne Carnival a few weeks ago. It was a lovely sunny day and we were able to bless many people who were out in our community. The Games and activities were in use constantly and it was lovely to see all ages and stages taking part in the splat the rat and corn hole games (Thanks to Diarmid for building them).

The set up team did a wonderful job (an early 8 am start) and special mention must go to Isaac and Ben who helped organise the adults so wonderfully! As always, the cakes were delicious and many people were amazed at the generosity of being able to have a drink and a bite to eat for free. So different to what else is on offer these days. Even with that, we have been able to send over £300 to the Quinton and Oldbury Foodbank thanks to the generous donations received on the day. So the blessing continues!

What was really encouraging this year was seeing how many people engaged with the prayer activities and prophetic art table – so many good conversations and we pray that the Lord would water the many seeds that were sown that day. Indeed, there was a lovely atmosphere throughout the café and outside the church – I saw several people pause and linger, as if they sensed something was different, and again we pray that the presence of the Lord would draw them closer to him in time.

If you came for the evening service, you wouldn’t have know we were out there at all, thanks to the great effort of the pack down team, who cleared everything away safely and quickly. So all in all, a great day. Again, to all those that helped make the day happen, in advance or on the day – Thank you.
