This service is perfect for all ages! It’s a great way to get excited for Christmas, with lots of carols and a chance to hear a little bit more about the Christmas story. There will be an opportunity to light a Christingle as part of the service, so make sure to make yours in advance. Why not get dressed up as your favourite nativity character as you join in the fun from home! Everyone welcome. (Countdown from 15.50).

Join us for the first of our ‘Big Church Small Church’ weekends. On Saturday we will take time to meet together as a whole church family. Then on Sunday there will be no church gatherings, instead we will meet together in small groups (for food and fellowship, ministry and mission). Whether it’s in the ‘Big Church’ all age gathering on the Saturday, or in our small groups on a Sunday, the aim will be the same: to build and enjoy the community that is St John’s.
This year, St John’s will be joining in with the Church of England’’s fantastic #LiveLent series.
#LiveLent: Care for God's Creation is the Church of England's Lent Campaign for 2020. It has been inspired and informed by the Archbishop of Canterbury's 2020 Lent Book, Saying Yes to Life by Ruth Valerio (SPCK).
For the 40 days of Lent there is a daily challenge to help you honour and treasure the earth, plus weekly short prayers and Bible readings on creation themes. You can do this on your own, as a family and join with friends and the wider church for some of the challenges.
For children and families, we have ordered booklets - Sign up on ChurchSuite to reserve your copy for just £1.00 (1 per family).
For adults, we recommend downloading the app, #LiveLent (not available until the week beginning 17 Feb), signing up for the daily emails or keeping an eye out for social media posts. There is also an adult/youth version of the booklet, which you could order from the Church of England website. Find out more at churchofengland.org/livelent.
We hope that we can use this period leading up to Easter to enrich our faith and deepen our prayer lives together. Join us this year as we #LiveLent!
Join with other churches in Harborne for a Bring and Share Unity Lunch at St Mary’s Church Parish Centre. Soup and hot drinks will be provided. No need to book, just show up! Everyone welcome.
Check out all of the events as part of the ‘Week of Prayer for Christian Unity’ at stjohnsharborne.org/cth.
We are excited to announce that our Carols & Christingles service will be held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground this year. This service is perfect for families. We will be giving out Christingles as well as hearing a little bit more about the Christmas story. Kids are welcome to come dressed as their favourite nativity character if they want to! Bring the whole family.

On Sun 22 Sept we will be celebrating harvest Sunday. Given the practicalities of collecting food donations in Lordswood Girls’ School, we have decided that this year we will have a monetary collection. You provide the dosh - we’ll do the shopping! All money raised will be split between the Quinton and Oldbury Foodbank and Restore (who support refugees and asylum seekers).
Please consider giving to help them provide food for those in need! (Click below to donate online, or add your donations to the Sunday collection in a labelled envelope)
Join us after our 10.00 Sunday gathering for a 'Picnic in the Park' at Rowheath Pavillion. Bring a picnic, a blanket, and some sunshine. Everyone welcome!
If the weather isn't good, we will have an indoor picnic at St John's Harborne, B17 9PT. Check our website or our social media on the day for confirmation of location if you aren't sure.
