An Anchor for People and a Place of Welcome - Mark & Ruth Cuthbert
Thank you so much for your continued support for our family.
It is wonderful to see our men’s houses in Birmingham full again and our women’s house has lots of new women. This is such an answer to prayer as the post-pandemic years have led to people not phoning up for help, and where they have come in, they haven’t been staying. We have great House leaders who have a heart for the men and women, and although very young in their faith themselves, they are eager to see God change lives. Please pray for our House Leaders and Supervisors as they welcome and walk alongside men and women who are broken and desperate.
We are encouraged to see the growth of our Anchor Point Church in Aston. More people from the local community and local universities are wanting to be part of the church, begin serving in various areas and join small groups. A number of those coming to the church first found out about us through being either at an external event held at Anchor Point, or at the Rising Café, Anchor Point. It is exciting to see the vision that God put on our hearts begin to unfold, and we are so excited to see what he is going to do once the whole building is up and running. Our prayers have been that Anchor Point would be just that, an anchor for people and a place of welcome in the area.
Anchor Point is nearly complete, due to be fully complete by end of October. Please pray for the final weeks that it would be completed with excellence and with as little stress as possible. Mark is very busy with it at the moment as he is the primary liaison between Betel and the project manager, so is down on site every day (thankfully his office is only 2 floors away!).
We would value prayer, particularly for our Birmingham centre which is the national HQ for Betel UK, as there have been a number of very sudden departures and tragedies which have left those of us who are already extremely busy, also trying to carry others’ work until we can find replacements. Please pray for equipping and strength, and for the right people to take over these roles.
If you would be interested in seeing first-hand what we are involved in with Betel UK and Anchor Point Church, we would love to meet up, and you are very welcome to come along to our Anchor Point site in Aston; enjoy a coffee in our café, join us for church at 18:30 on Fridays and meet those who are currently in the Betel recovery programme and those who have experience God’s transforming and life-changing power and are now free from addiction and the debilitating challenges that they faced.
With love,
Mark, Ruth, Harvey and Sophia
